28.08.2020FORUM "RUSSIAN - JAPANESE COOPERATION: NEW CHALLENGES, NEW REALITY"
Business delegation from the Free State of Saxony is operating in the Ulyanovsk region
On 17 October, representatives of the German business community participated in the forum called "Resource-Efficient Technologies for Modernization and Improvement of Automotive, Aircraft and Mechanical Engineering Industries". On 19 October, it is planned to hold a working meeting with the Governor Sergey Morozov.
Businesspeople from Germany working in the sphere of mechanical engineering, as well as production of components and services for this branch, have discussed issues of innovative technologies introduction and joint cooperation with the Ulyanovsk business community. Following the results of B2B meetings, they set a number of business contacts and designed the first cooperative arrangements.
“For us, Germany has always been the main partner in the field of external economic cooperation, especially investments. The government of the region and the Development Corporation have been developing relationship with Germany for a long time now, and we maintain close contact with the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade, the Engineering Union, the Eastern Committee of German Economy and other organizations. Our joint activities allow us to strengthen the cooperation. There are ten German companies working in the Ulyanovsk region, among which is DMG MORI, Schaeffler, Jokey Plastik, Henkel, Quarzwerke. Negotiations with a number of companies are nearing completion”, – said Igor Ryabikov, the First Deputy Director of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation.
During the first day of work in the region, German businesspeople visited Aviastar-SP and AeroKompozit-Ulyanovsk plants. “Yesterday we examined two plants of aircraft industry and we were really impressed. We compare them to the similar enterprises in our region as we also have companies that specialize in similar technology and ship the production to the aircraft plants. We can see great opportunities for development of cooperation with the Ulyanovsk region. DMG MORI has already launched its production here, and it did not come as a surprise – in your region there are all the right conditions for business to flourish”, – emphasized Dr. Manfred Libl’, an authorized representative of the Saxony Department for Support of Economy in Russia and the CIS countries.
According to the dedicated experts, businesspeople from Saxony will stay in Ulyanovsk for three days. Potential investors and partners of the Ulyanovsk business will also examine production of such enterprises as Ulyanovsk Motor Plant (UMZ), ISUZU, UAZ, Simbirsk Machine Tool Plant, Avtokomponent.
Federal experts also participate in activities of the forum. The Director General of the Agency for Technological Development Maxim Shereykin talked about the agency's main objectives and areas of work. It is a new organization created by the Government of the Russian Federation last year to help Russian enterprises with introduction of world-class technology solutions and to increase competitiveness of domestic production.
“The Ulyanovsk region is the leader on attraction of investments. I worked in Kaluga for a long time and we constantly competed with the team of this region in this sphere. You were a worthy opponent. Speaking about the Ulyanovsk region's interest in technological business and its decision to make this sphere a priority one, this choice is really promising. This field is not limited to creation of startups, small innovative companies that offer solutions and try to commercialize them, which is also very important. It is also about technological modernization of your region's traditional enterprises, such as UAZ and Aviastar. The main task here is to attract technologies and financing so that traditional enterprises, which are still the largest taxpayers and the main working place for inhabitants of the region, conformed to requirements of the modern world. This is one of our Agency's main areas of work and we develop solutions for this industry”, – Maxim Shereykin reported.
